REMINDERS

CURRICULUM OVERVIEW 2024-25

AUGUST- WELCOME, FRIENDS NAMES, CLASSROOM AGREEMENTS,
INTRODUCTION TO PRAYER

Our new school year begins with our “Get to Know Our School” unit. This theme will
help students adjust to the preschool’s routines, environment and new friends. They will
learn prayer before meals and to begin and end their day. Each class will be bringing in a
family picture and creating a “If You take a Mouse to School” lunchbox activity that will
be a bridge between home and school. We look forward to an awesome start to the year.

SEPTEMBER- I AM SPECIAL, COLORS, MOTHER MARY'S BIRTHDAY,
THE GOOD SAMARITAN-PARABLE
With our “I Am Special” unit/ theme will celebrate the uniqueness of each child and
share in their individual creation and purpose in creation. The children will also share
their uniqueness that makes them special in the world. We will also explore the
wonderful world of colors throughout the month. Look for this in our monthly calendars
that will go home. And lastly we will share the parable of the Good Samaritan to learn
how kindness has no bounds.

OCTOBER- COLORS CONTINUED, FIRE PREVENTION, FALL,
HALLOWEEN, PARABLE OF THE SEED
October is Fire Prevention month so our Jr. Firefighters will be busy learning and
working on the importance of fire safety. Colors will also be continued through out this
month as we mix the colors to make a rainbow. We will also be partaking in a Halloween
parade and our parable will be “The Worker” story were Jesus says, “So the last will be
first, and the first will be last.”

NOVEMBER- PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCE, SHOW-N-TELL,
THANKSGIVING, ADVENT, SHAPES,
This month we get to see the growth your student has made since the beginning of the
year at the parent/teacher conference. “Book Packs” will be a good opportunity to bridge
home and school as well as gain appreciation for books and literacy. We will close the
month with a reflection on all the blessings that we are thankful for as we celebrate the
Thanksgiving Holiday. Our parable will be “The Seed” story about the different kinds
faith of heart as we wrap up the month.

DECEMBER-HAPPY BIRTH DAY JESUS , SHAPES, CHRISTMAS
NATIVITY PROGRAM
December is a month of sharing the Joy of the Holiday. God’s special gift of his
son…Jesus. Songs of love, joy and peace will be in our hearts. We will continue our
concept of the shapes. Mele Kalikimaka and Hau’oli Makahiki Hou to all our families!

JANUARY- CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK, ALPHABETS-WOODLAND,
PARABLE OF THE LOST COIN
What fun we will have when introducing our children to the alphabet through the
woodland friends in the forest. This month we will also be celebrating together with all
Catholic Schools, the pride of an education based on the life of Christ and the love of
God. We will also learn the parable of “The Lost Coin”.

FEBRUARY- CHINESE NEW YEAR, ALPHABETS CONTINUED, VALENTINES DAY, ASH WEDNESDAY, LENT
PARABLE OF THE PRODIGAL SON


We will enjoy creating our own master pieces as the children will be making their own special Valentines cards for their families for Valentine’s Day. We will also be continuing the alphabet into next month, and celebrate the start of the Lenten Season with Ash Wednesday. Capping the month with the parable of “The Prodigal Son” of unconditional love.

MARCH- EASTER, ST.PATRICK’S DAY, HOLY TRINITY, SAFE
ENVIROMENT PRESENTATION, GIRL’S DAY, ALPHABETS CONTINUED,
PARABLE OF THE WISE AND FOOLISH BUILDER
Spring is in the air! Children will share in the Japanese Spring time celebration of Hina
Matsuri or Girl’s Day. The Rainbows and Butterflies will get to learn about St. Patrick
and the message of the holy trinity in representation of the clover to the people of Ireland
and the church. Easter will bring joy to all our hearts as we count our blessings. As
always safety is important in the lives of our children and so we will be participating in
the National Safety/Sexual Assault Prevention Week this month. Students will also learn
the parable of “The Wise and Foolish Builder”.

APRIL-MONTH OF THE YOUNG CHILD, ALPHABETS CONTINUED, THE
PARABLE OF THE LOST SHEEP
Children are special people, in April we participate in the “National Month of the Young
Child”. The School will have a Week of the Young Child Celebration.We will also be
wrapping up our Alphabets. The curriculum will also cover the parable of “The Lost
Sheep”.

MAY- BOY’S DAY, MOTHER’S DAY, MONTH OF THE BLESSED MOTHER
MARY, MAY DAY, PARABLE OF THE LAMPS
Get out those Koi fish flags as we recognize our boys the Japanese way on Boy’s Day
(May 5 th ). We will be working on our parable series with the parable of “The Lamps or
Ten Bridesmaids”. In May we recognize the love of our Mother’s, especially our
heavenly Mother Mary. Happy Mother’s Day to our moms.

JUNE- TRANSITIONS TO NEW SCHOOLS, NUMBERS , FATHERS DAY, KAMEHAMEHA DAY, PARABLE OF THE WIDOW’S OFFERING, WATER PLAY DAYS
The summer will cool down with our water play days. The students will also be talking
about transitioning to new schools and graduation. We will also enjoy summer fun
through the numbers concept.

JULY-FOURTH OF JULY, TRANSITIONS, GRADUATION, GOD IS WITH US
ALWAYS
The Fourth of July will get us going this month. We will end the month focusing on
supporting the children into smooth transitions as they prepare for new school settings or
return into preschool next school year. This leads us to the grand finale of the school
year, Graduation and the Class of 2025.
